We had planned to take a trip to the cities this weekend to see the Holidazzle Parade. We were so looking forward to this, packed everything up early Friday afternoon and got on the road!
Dawson did excellent traveling, and was in awe watching all the lights of traffic, and let us know every time he saw a "big rig"! We arrived at Chris's brother & sister in law's house and started unpacking. Realizing...we forgot a bag! Yup, the one with all of Chris's clothes in it, and our shampoo/lotion/curling iron and most importantly DIAPERS...Whoops! It was packed, just stayed packed in our bedroom! We already had planned for Chris and I to have a nice dinner out, and Chris's brother was going to watch Dawson. So, we proceeded on our date (Red Lobster) and then made an unplanned trip to Target. We had a nice evening just the two of us, but at the same time decided we missed having Dawson to keep us chuckling at the table, however "us" time is always treasured as well! When we arrived back at his brother's house, he informed us that about 30 minutes after we left Dawson told him "Dawson is tired" Jason asked him if he was ready for bed and Dawson said "okay" and proceeded to bed. After a book or two, and prayers he laid down and went right to sleep! Too cute. I think Jason was bummed as he was looking forward to a little more time with his nephew!
Saturday I awoke (Chris let me sleep in until 8 and took Dawson downstairs to play!) to the wonderful smell of fresh cinnamon rolls hot out of the oven! My lovely sister in law baked...bless her heart! We enjoyed every bite of them, and after we all got ready and Dawson took a quick nap we headed out for an enjoyable day! We browsed the large Cabela's in Rogers (Dawson thoroughly enjoyed the animals as usual, however the buck mounts are his favorite and he kept asking to see them over and over again!) Then we went to California Pizza kitchen to enjoy a tasty treat of BBQ chicken pizza. This place and every exotic pizza imaginable! My brother in law even ordered a club pizza...club sandwich basically on the pizza! Interesting! With full bellies we headed to Gander Mountain to browse some more, and Old Navy as well before heading home for a nice late afternoon nap!
Once home, and realizing just how bitterly cold it was outside, we sadly nixed the parade! However, the boys decided to take Dawson to the famous monster trucks that were at the Metrodome. Dawson (and the boys) loved the show. He sat there in awe the whole 2 1/2 hours...they even saw a bit of the parade on their way to the show, from the warmth of the car! In the mean time, my two sister in laws and I took in a movie at the theater a treat I hadn't had in over 2 years. It was nice and relaxing, and the popcorn was just as yummy (and unhealthy) as I remembered!
Sunday after a large yummy breakfast we headed home. Chris mozzied out to do some fishing at the fish house, and Dawson and I each took a nap! After he got home, and we enjoyed a dinner of potatoes, BBQ roast, corn and biscuits we decided to do some baking! Since we were on a roll we just finished it all! We made and decorated sugar cookies, scotch cookies and puppy chow to add to our already made brown eyed susan's, double choco cookies, 7 layer bars, and special K bars. It was a lot of fun! Dawson had green and red frosting all over his hands and mouth as he thought every cookie we decorated should be sampled immediately! Goofy kid! My mom and dad stopped by for a bit as well, and my mom even helped us finish up the last of the decorating.

So, all in all we had a great weekend. Change in plans, but an enjoyable one! Maybe we will see the Holidazzle next year, and pray it isn't quite as cold! Hope you all are having a lovely holiday season, we have so much to be thankful for, and mostly praising God for the birth of His Son!!
God Bless!!

What a fun weekend! It's fun to get away and have fun! Your cookies look so great! This time of year is so wonderful!!!
It sounds like you had a really fun weekend. I think that is so funny you left Chris's clothes at home! Blake and I have done something very similar before. It's always nice to have a Target nearby!!
It looks like you had auch a great weekend!!! I LOVE the pics of your cookies.. so pretty! Dawson is just so cute.. the stories are great! That pizza sounds so yummy... ;) Glad you had fun!
What a fun trip to share together as a family! I completely understand how in the process of getting everything packed and everyone out the door important bags/items get left behind! We have left concert tickets and all sorts of other important things! Thankfully we managed to remember before getting to far away from home, but Target is a good alternative! It sounds like your trip had all the right elements! Time for your family, time for the three of you, time for you and your husband, and time to relax and do guy/girl things! Especially at the end with all the cookie making! How fun and the pic.'s are so cute!
What a fun time! It just makes me want to go have a fun weekend myself:)
