WOW!! We wanted Spring, and we are getting melting, and now people are praying for it to STOP! On top of that the snow is still flying which means more melting! Praise God our family hasn't been directly effected, but there are many stories we are hearing of people who have water in basements, garages, sheds, and entire homes. From what I hear and see on the news, Fargo, Bismark and more areas are so much worse.
About 1/4 a mile from our house (the way the crow flies) there are homes being sandbaged, and still having water gush in. Chris took yesterday afternoon off from work to go help sandbag, and the radio has been urging anyone who can to please come and help! They need help filling the sandbags as well as stacking them. Chris said it was so bitterly cold out there with the harsh wind and icy temps. On top of it, no one wanted to tie the sandbags because that meant no gloves. He decided to tackle that. BRR.
He was telling me about a guy who finally threw up his hands and said enough. If my insurance won't cover all these damages, then I will let the house go back to the bank. -this after the water began rushing around the levy again!
This is the Tyler area. The engineer told Chris there is about a 5 mile radius that this water is coming to pool from. The field now looks like a lake. In fact, that is what Dawson called it.
Another couple just moved in 6 months ago, and have a 1 month old baby at home. Now are dealing with an inch of water covering thier basement floor, not to mention the water that is being held back from the sandbags. Not a very comforting house warming!
I know there are areas much worse than these, but it still tugs at my heart.
Please keep these victims of the floods in your prayers. They are exhausted and distraught.
