Updates

It was brought to my attention that I have been falling behind on blogging again so thought I would do a quick update.

We had a nice time in the cities a few weekends ago. We stayed with my wonderful brother in law and sister in law (Ron and Heidi) in their new GORGEOUS house. Wishing the time hadn't been so busy, and gone so quickly though. Chris was in our friend's wedding in Albany so he was very busy with wedding stuff all weekend. What made the time go even quicker was that Albany is a little more than an hours drive from Elk River where we were staying, so needless to say we did quite a bit of driving while we were on our long weekend trip.

We headed down on Thursday mid morning, and stopped in Albertville to do a little browsing/shopping before getting to Elk River. Friday we relaxed a while in the morning, and then did a bit of shopping and had a nice lunch (Sonic YUMM) at a park on the Mississippi. It was a perfect afternoon for it. That evening Chris had the groom's dinner and rehearsal. The kids and I stayed with Auntie Heidi. We relaxed and ate pizza for dinner.

Saturday was busy busy. Chris helped work on building their deck in the morning, and then had to be on the road by no later than 11 for pictures. I decided to unfortunately miss the wedding being it was at 2:00 and the reception wasn't until 6:00. It was in the 90s that day, and I didn't know what I would possibly do with two kids (one only being 3 weeks old) for that long in a strange town. However, we did make it to the lovely reception. It was hot as it was held outdoors, but still beautiful, and always happy to see two people so in love, tie the knot. Not to mention seeing my hunny all dressed up in his tux :-)

The rest of the weekend was a blurr also, we got to meet our new nephew Collin, and spend a little time there. Then headed to Maple Grove for some lunch at Olive Garden (my fav) and some browsing. The boys went to a demo derby and loved every minute of it.
We headed home Sunday evening. Both the kids did tremendously well, Lainey slept the whole way both there and back, and Dawson took good naps also. Even though we have so much fun there, it is always nice to get back. It was too busy and warm to get to do the zoo this trip around, but hoping for a chance in September.
Chris headed back to work a week ago after having a month of paternity leave. It was great to have that added time as a family, and man did it go too quickly! Hard to believe Lainey is already 5 weeks old!! Where has the time gone?!
Last weekend we spent Saturday and Sunday afternoons up at the cabin. Chris and his dad wanted to get some projects done to get ready for deer and bear hunting. We cooked out both nights, and had a nice camp fire Saturday night. The weather was gorgeous, and so quiet up there! Just love relaxing on the porch!
This coming weekend we are looking forward to spending Friday night at the cabin, Saturday we have an annual pig roast to attend at my mom and dad's, and a family reunion on Sunday. Monday my God Mother from Haymarket Virginia will be driving here for a weeks visit. I can hardly wait to see her. Just love her company!
Hope you all have an enjoyable Labor Day weekend!
